How to Stick to Your Workout Routine While Traveling

Don't get behind on your fitness while you're on vacation

For many people, traveling and vacationing can make it extremely challenging to stick to their workout routine. Without having their gym being a 10-minute drive away, or having their favorite running trail right in their neighborhood, it’s challenging to continue working out when traveling. Here are some helpful tips that will allow you to stick to your workout routine, despite the inconvenience of travel!

A great way to integrate exercise into your traveling experience is to incorporate calorie burning exercises and activities into your vacation itinerary. Instead of lounging all day at the beach, or sitting at the 24-hour buffet, incorporate kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, biking, exploring a scenic walking trail, or just being outside and being active! It can be a challenge to find a gym or running trail depending on where you are traveling, so incorporating intense, calorie burning activities is a great way to exercise while having a fun and enjoying yourself. Depending on where you are vacationing, many resorts and hotels offer a variety of exercises and activities such as water aerobics, beach volleyball or soccer, or Zumba. Check out their daily schedule and see what activities you can participate in! Even activities such as snorkeling or scuba diving help burn calories. There truly are endless possibilities no matter where you are.

If you’re looking for a more relaxing vacation, you can unwind with yoga. All you need is some flexible clothing, and a mat or towel. With the variety of stretches, positions, and meditation, this could be the perfect exercise for someone who wants a calm, and peaceful vacation.

Some hotels and resorts may a gym or workout room readily available, but for those that don’t doing high-intensity interval training works as a great alternative. None of these requires any weights or machines, and can be done in your own hotel room. It will be ten times more challenging to go workout solo, while leaving the family behind to relax on the beach. Getting the family involved in group activities can give you that extra boost of motivation you need to stay on track, and it gets the whole family to exercise as well. It can be very challenging to stick to your exercise routine when you just want to enjoy yourself on vacation, but dedicating 30 minutes to an hour is well worth it. Whether you are laying on a beach in Mexico, or climbing the Rockies’ being creative with your exercises and doing a variety of fun activities can keep you on course!
