100-calorie snack ideas

Sometimes it is hard to come up with snacks that are both easy to make and healthy for you. But never fear! We have come up with a great list of easy-to-prepare snacks that you can have on hand, or make very easily. So the next time you're hungry and in a hurry, these snacks won't let you down. And with only 100 calories, they are healthy enough to keep you going all day long!

1. Almonds. Almonds don’t need any extras to be one of the most satisfying snacks. They are also one of the most nutritionally dense nuts.

2. Baked Apple. For a simple low-cal version of the traditional baked apple, core it, dust it with cinnamon, and bake it for 20 minutes on low heat in the oven.

3. Cottage Cheese and Cantaloupe. This is a classic low calorie snack. All you need is ½ cup of low-fat cottage cheese and ½ cup of diced cantaloupe. This snack gives you 50 percent of the daily recommended values of vitamins A and C, two vitamins that may help promote clear skin.

4. Popcorn. If you have your own popcorn popper, this is an easy healthy snack to make. Mix two cups of freshly popped popcorn with some parmesan cheese and some cayenne pepper to give it a little bit of spice. If you do not have a popcorn popper, choose microwave popcorn that is low in fat and sodium. Two cups of this popcorn is very low in calories and is enough to keep you going.

5. "Mexican Potato." You could always just bake a potato in the oven for a healthy snack, but if you want the process to be quicker you should turn to the microwave for this snack. Poke some holes in a washed potato and microwave it for about 5 minutes in total. Cut the potato open, and top it with a tablespoon each of salsa and sour cream.
