The Benefits of Green Smoothies

How Green Smoothies Can Improve Your Health

Green smoothies have been all the rage for the last year or two, and it's for good reason! Drinking a green smoothie daily will help you lose weight, stay sexy, and be healthier. A green smoothie is a drink that has blended greens, fruits, veggies, and good fats like almonds, flax, and coconut.

People add just about any leafy green to their green smoothies and they taste yummy. You could use kale, chard, mint, collard greens, parsley, or spinach. Maybe bok choy wouldn't taste too good. But most other leafy greens will. And they will give you plenty of nutrients and fiber.

Having a little sweetness in the smoothie helps make it easier to chug. Fruits will give the green smoothie that added sweetness without the empty calories that are in refined sugars. This also will give you a serving or more of fruit for the day. Green smoothies can be great for muscle recovery after a strenuous workout, too. And they give you a lot of energy to face the day.

The fiber in green smoothies help to reduce your cholesterol. It can help you lose weight because the fiber and liquid in the smoothie helps you feel full for longer periods of time. Also, it can help regulate your bowel movements, which will help you lose weight as well.

The calcium found in green smoothies are good for your body. They help prevent bone loss and can reduce the amount of kidney stones a person gets. In fact, kale is loaded with the type of calcium that is much easier for a body to absorb than calcium that comes from milk. If you have a history of kidney stones in your family, you will need to be more careful about what leafy greens you use as some leafy greens with high levels of certain oxalates can cause issues.
